Colorado Loan Incentive for Teachers of Nursing (LIFT Nursing) Program

Administered by CollegeInvest, Colorado's LIFT Nursing Program helps teachers in the nursing field repay their student loans. Qualified teachers can get up to $20,000 to help repay their student loans.
Who qualifies? (For complete qualifications, see the application and instructions)
- Nursing teachers with a master's or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field from a public or participating private Colorado institution of higher education.
- Nursing teachers who are working half-time for a public or participating private institution of higher education to teach classes required to earn a degree or certificate in nursing.
- Nursing teachers who began employment within four (4) years of completing advanced degree at a qualified institution.
- Nursing teachers who agree to teach in a qualified position for a period of not less than five (5) consecutive academic years.
Which loans qualify?
The following type of student loans used to earn a master's or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field qualify.
- Federal
- Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)
- Federal Direct Loans
- Perkins Loans
- Federal Nursing Loans
- Private/Alternative Education Loans
- Private/Alternative Education Loans are loans specifically designated for students to pay for higher education expenses. Personal consumer loans are not considered private/alternative education loans.
